About End-Of-Life Doula Care
End-Of-Life Doulas provide non-medical holistic support throughout the dying process, which may include education and guidance as well as emotional, spiritual and/or practical care.
“My role as an End-Of-Life Doula includes working in conjunction with other outside services such as hospice, to extend comfort and supportive services customized to the wants and needs of the dying individual, their families and loved ones.” - J. Olivia Lechniak
The Guiding Principles of the Doula
Model of Care include:
Providing Non-Medical Support
Providing Non-Judgmental Support
Ensuring The Approach is Family-Centered
Providing Holistic Care
Empowering The Individuals Involved
And Being Members of the Team
“I have felt called to this work by various experiences in my life, both personal and professional. I witnessed dying individuals and their loved ones going through their unique process of death, and saw where support was lacking.
Death is one of the most emotional, challenging, and beautiful transitions we experience. It needs space held so all involved can process and be present, and it is my calling to provide that space with compassion.”
